Sox Drop Opener
ROCKVILLE, MD.--Despite a strong start from Cory McSurgery and good pitching throughout, Murphy's Green Sox dropped the 2005 opener 6-1 to the Senators Base Ball Club.Weak hitting and some clutch Senators plays kept the Sox off the board for most of the night. The Sox defense was as good as one could expect in the first game, with a few sweet plays.
Tim Carney collected the Sox's first hit of the season with a nasty bunt in the third inning. Carlos Soto, in his first plate appearance of the year, drove in the team's first run.
Jeremey "Dad" Sansom got first blood of the year.
